post apocalyptic western book

THe PENROSe Triangle.

A Dystopian Western

Kindle / Hard Copy / Audible

Read this in the voice of the trailer guy you always hear from suspenseful or action filled Summer Blockbusters:

In a ruined future, (i’m serious, do the voice) In a ruined future…split between those who have and those that do not America has contracted like a singularity into a single city. There, citizens live under a divided society, split by five walls. At the center, their depraved leader, Gideon, rules with the iron fisted reach of propaganda, and oppressive governmental agency.

Outside the city walls Penny, an adopted young girl, farms one ranch of many that provides food to the citizens of Mercury. There she has learned self reliance, and the ability to fix just about anything. Her family and identity is shattered when agents of the city come to collect. Once everything has been taken from her, she sets out to the technologically advanced city on horseback to get revenge.

The whole of Mercury's government wants justice for her crimes, searching for her to put her in The Bowl, a futuristic automotive endurance race to the death where winning is the only way to escape the clutches of Mercury. Running from agents of the state along the way she meets other outcasts as she takes a journey that will redefine who she is, and answer the unknown questions about her strange and hidden origin.

About Kris…

I live quagmired by ambivalence in the lake ridden land of Minnesota. It’s cold here. Here we grow up doing shut-in things like pretending we like the snow, reading westerns, or swearing at hunks of steel and machinery. We say its worth it. They say we live longer up here. I believe it. The weather is harsh, but even more so, the people are just too nice, and that’s harsh too.

I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. I was raised by my father’s parents who sacrificed everything to give me a chance to become some semblance of a man they speculated I could become. Despite their best efforts, I dropped out of college and just started digging various forms of ditches and fleeing responsibility. Eventually I became a father, which grounded me, changing, everything. Now I do my best to explore when I can, seeking experiences and exploration, usually behind the wheel of a car. I love the Great American West, in person, or presented to me in my own imagination, spurred on by the creations of others.

I write for a myriad of different publications on experiential things. I hate writing about “I” so writing about my own experiences has become increasingly more difficult. I have a podcast that’s pretty fantastic. I just finished my first novel. Besides the nagging nihilism things are going along pretty well.
